On May 12, 2020, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed Executive Order No. 37 (pdf). The new Order extends Executive Order No. 26 (pdf), which was set to expire on Monday, May 18, 2020. Between now and June 30, 2020, Tennessee residents will be able to use videoconferencing technology (e.g., Zoom, Facetime, and Skype) to execute legal documents that require a notary and/or witnesses. More information about the remote execution requirements, as well as execution rules for common estate planning documents, can be found in the previous post.
