Michael P. Sayne, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee,
graduated from the University
of Tennessee in 1996. While attending U.T., Mr.
Sayne served two terms as Senator for the Fort Sanders
community on the University of Tennessee Student Government
Senate and served as both Vice President and President
of the University’s chapter of the Phi
Alpha Delta Pre-Law Program. In addition, Mr. Sayne
was a competing member of the University’s Mock
Trial team, earning Best Attorney honors on a regional
and national level, in addition to being named to the
All American Team in 1995.
Mr. Sayne later attended the University
of Tennessee College of Law where he earned his
Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree cum laude, with an
Advocacy Concentration in May 2000. Mr. Sayne graduated
as a member of Phi Kappa Phi, was inducted as a National
Member of the Order of Barristers and was given the
1999-2000 Judith Turcott Special Service Award for his
service to the Moot Court Program at the College of
Law. While in law school, Mr. Sayne was a founding member
and served as an officer for the law school’s
chapter of Phi
Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. In addition, Mr. Sayne
was a competing member on the law school’s ATLA
mock trial team. During Mr. Sayne’s second year
in law school he competed in the law school’s
intramural appellate advocacy competition, winning the
Advocate’s Prize championship and earning best
oralist honors. In both his second and third years of
law school, Mr. Sayne competed in the law school’s
intramural trial competition, prevailing in the championship
round during his third year. Additionally, Mr. Sayne
received Academic Excellence Awards in Advanced Appellate
Advocacy and Case Development.
Mr. Sayne has been admitted and is currently licensed
to practice law in all Tennessee courts and the U.S.
District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
He is a member of the Knoxville,
Sevier County, Tennessee
and American
Bar Associations. Mr. Sayne is also a current member
of the Defense
Research Institute and past member of the Hamilton
Burnett Inns of Court. Additionally, Mr. Sayne is an
adjunct professor at the University
of Tennessee College of Law, teaching Pre-Trial
Litigation to second and third year law students. Mr.
Sayne was recently bestowed with a BV® peer review
rating in Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Sayne regularly works in both our Knoxville and
our Sevier County Offices.
