Jerome Melson, a native of Madisonville, Tennessee,
graduated with highest honors from the University of
Tennessee after earning his bachelor’s degree
in three years in the College Scholars program. While
at the university, Mr. Melson worked both in Washington
and Knoxville as a staff assistant and field representative
to United States Congressman John J. Duncan, then the
Ranking Minority Member of the House Ways and Means
Committee. As a law student, Mr. Melson was a recipient
of the John W. Green Scholarship. He graduated from
the University of Tennessee College of Law with honors
in 1988.
Mr. Melson possesses an AV® Martindale-Hubbell
peer review rating.
Mr. Melson is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist
by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education
and Specialization. In addition, he possesses certification
by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial
Advocate. He is also a graduate of the National Institute
for Trial Advocacy and is currently a Master of the
Bench in the Hamilton S. Burnett Chapter of the American
Inns of Court. In addition, Mr. Melson currently serves
as attorney for the Industrial Development Board of
Monroe County, Tennessee and as City Attorney for the
cities of Madisonville, Vonore, and Lake City, Tennessee.
He has made numerous presentations at continuing education
seminars and other functions.
Mr. Melson has been admitted and is currently licensed
to practice law in all Tennessee courts, the U.S. District
Court, Eastern District of Tennessee, the U.S. District
Court, Middle District of Tennessee and the U.S. Court
of Appeals, Sixth Circuit.
